SASC -Use of TOD in a Diagnostic Assessment

The virtual course will look at using the Tests of Dyslexia in order to write a diagnostic assessment report according to the SASC report format. It will address how to administer, interpret and report the test results in order to comply with the SASC

Who is it suitable for?

This session is suitable for Assessors with a Level 7 in dyslexia or equivalent and are competent to carry out assessments for dyslexia.

Learning Aims:

  • To understand how to use the TOD in a diagnostic assessment.
  • To understand how to interpret results and report them according the SASC report format.

Programme Outline:

This virtual course will guide you through how to use each element of the TOD in order to meet the requirements of each aspect of the SASC report format, as well as other tests that need to be administered.

All of the subtests in the TOD-S and TOD-C will be covered, with an explanation of what each subtest measures, as well as sample paragraphs of analysis. New aspects, such as orthographic processing, will be explained.

We will cover each area of ability, cognitive processing and attainment. Advice will be given on how to approach tricky areas.

Following this we will discuss mapping the findings to the new definition of dyslexia. Finally, we will cover some useful areas such as how to write the appendices using the TOD.

This course will fully support you in creating valuable and practical reports of assessments that you carry out using the TOD.

Trainer - Armande Fryatt

Armande is a highly experienced and qualified specialist assessor. She has been a specialist dyslexia teacher for 30 years, working in a variety of settings (primary, secondary, further education and specialist dyslexia schools). She has been a specialist assessor, and has had an Assessment Practising Certificate consistently for 12 years. Armande serves on the Standardised Test Evaluation Committee, who decide which tests can be used in diagnostic assessments in the UK.

She also works for Patoss (The Professional Association of Teachers of Pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties) mentoring newly qualified and experienced assessors to help improve their professional practice. Armande is a Fellow of the Dyslexia Guild. She also assesses for the BDA and is a member of the APC renewal team at the BDA.

Joining instructions will be sent to the registered email address approximately 24hrs ahead of the training event. If the events start date falls on a Monday, these details will be sent out on the preceding Friday.
